Just a few quick points in case this is still on going:
1) If you have something that shows you paid rent through the end of May, and he has nothing that shows otherwise, he can not make any assumptions. You are legally entitled to that entire month.
2) I am pretty sure a landlord can not legal remove your stuff from the apartment. He would have to process an eviction and even then, I beleive someone "from the police office" (I forget the exact wording) has to move the stuff. He CAN NOT.
3) Stop talking to him. GET A LAWYER
4) If you insist on talking to him, go to Radio Shack or some electronics store, and record your conversations. In New York State, as long as one of the parties present is aware of the recording, you don't need a warrant for "wire tapping" as you would be one of the parties.
