Co-op too expensive?

Postby LostNewYorker » Mon Sep 02, 2002 7:08 pm

Hello, I recently moved to NYC and currently living with a friend. I recently found a one bedroom co-op selling for 215K in manhattan on the east side close to seward park high school.
The space is 800 square feet and the maintenance is about 400 a month. I am not sure if this is too expensive for a one bedroom. :)

I don't know about the neighborhood (LES), but we have ~800 sqft apartments in my building going for $425K with much higher maintenance.

This sounds like a pretty good deal.

Quite honestly I think you'd be hard pressed to find anything in Manhattan for under $200,000 unless it's a very tiny studio.

The real question is how convenient is the Lower East Side and how much do you like the neighborhood?
I'm a cranky tenant NOT a cranky lawyer.
