Who is responsible for vandalism?

Postby Evadney72 » Thu Jan 12, 2012 1:01 pm

A brick was recently thrown into my apartment window. I have no clue who could have done it as I have never been in any kind of altercation with anyone. I automatically called the cops and filed a police report. My landlord has no intentions of fixing the window. His claim is that he doesn't know what kind of company I keep and since he doesn't know who I may have any issues with, it is not his responsibility.

Who is responsible for fixing the window?

The LL must fix the window and any part of the building that gets damaged. If he has any credible proof that you or a friend did it, then let him take that to the police. Chances are he won't.

Any of your possessions that get damaged, you are responsible for that, which is why it makes sense to get Renter's insurance.
