I have been having some trouble with my landlord and was informed by a friend that used to live in the building that the certificate of occupancy had some peculiarities. I found it on the BIS website. My floor has 4 units, two on each side. Each side has a a door between the units like you would find in a hotel, if you wanted to combine rooms.
The units are rented as 4 separate units, with 4 leases. The catch is that there are only listed 2 dwelling units on the CO for our floor. Is this invalid? Could this invalidate all leases on our floor?
