30 Day Lease Termination Notice. (for Annual Leasee)

Postby MCNE157 » Fri Jan 24, 2014 5:02 pm

A tenant has an annual lease which is to expire, the landlord has not notified the tenant wheter they will renew the lease or not. Is the lanlord LEGALLY REQUIRED to give a 30 day notice if they plan to not renew the lease?

Unless regulated, and if it does not say in the lease, the LL is under no obligation to do anything for tenants with a lease. If you are month-to-month (without a lease) and in NYC, the LL must give 30 days notice.

Best to contact the LL and ask for a renewal lease. You can stay after the lease expires, at which time you would become M2M, then the 30-day rule would apply.
