Good afternoon. I moved into my apartment with a NYC loft lease. I have been in the apartment since 2011 and the landlord honored our lease for two years. After that I haven't had a new lease. We recently were told by our landlord that he had sold his apartment and that we had a new landlord. We then heard via e-mail from the building management company that we were to write our rent checks to a new entity (cc-ing the new landlord). That was it. We haven't heard anything from the new landlord. And, based on the status of my fellow tenants, it appears that may be a good thing (i.e., many of my fellow tenants have gone through multiple landlords with little change to their arrangements).
I am operating under the understanding that, should the new landlord wish to evacuate the apartment that I would have no more than 60 days to vacate the premises. Is that correct?
Can anyone familiar with NYC loft laws offer me any information about this current situation?
Thanks in advance.
