Postby TenantNet » Tue Jun 30, 2015 4:15 am

On June 29, 2015, the NYC Rent Guidelines Board voted rent increases for rent stabilized apartments for all leases commencing between October 1, 2015 and September 30, 2016.

By a vote of 7-2, the RGB set percentage rent increases at:

For a one-year lease renewal: 0 percent (rent freeze)
For a two-year lease renewal: 2 percent

THANK YOU MAYOR DE BLASIO for assigning to the RG Board a majority of PEOPLE who care (instead of snakes)! Finally, a break! This is an historical moment and we should treasure it.

Well don't be so quick. It was difficult for them to ignore the facts in this instance. A one-time rent freeze is simply a band-aid and doesn't solve the long-term problem of high rents.

BTW, one of the tenant reps is indeed a snake who normally supports displacement and luxury apartments.

Yes, I agree -- it's only a Band-Aid, but it's better than nothing. It's certainly better than what's been happening for the last few decades.
