Eviction protection for disabled person

Postby CBASSO1959 » Sun May 28, 2017 10:53 am

hello,
I rent an apartment in Brooklyn and the landlord wants to evict me for non payment of rent. I am on SSD but it does not allow me to cover the rent.

I want to find out if there are any protections against evicting a disabled person.

PLEASE HELP ME ASAP AND THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!

A few questions...

First, are you rent stab?
How many units in the building?
Is it a coop or condo?
When (approx.) was it built?
Did you ever get a rent history from DHCR (if not, ask for one ASAP).
Did your lease or any other document state the unit was deregulated, and/or why?
How old are you?
What is the nature of your disability? (don't be too specific and no personal details)
Do you have a current lease?
Other than non-payment, are there other issues with the landlord? Do they accuse you of doing anything else?
Do you have problems with bad conditions or lack of repairs?
Have they started a nonpay case in housing court?

Start with these, and we'll go one step at a time.
