We let a friend from out of state come stay with us because she was in a bad situation. They arrived on September 11th so things changed in the city significantly. She said she was bringing money and that she'd pay rent. She brought very little money and didn't get a job until April. Needless to say, she never paid enough to cover their expenses, a hundred here and a hundred there. Even though we've asked repeatedly that she leave, she says by law, she doesn't have to. Is that true? And the 2 kids need to finish school in order to pass to the next grade so she can't leave back to her state. HELP!
If you've got the stomach for it, you could go to Housing Court and file for eviction. If it's just a matter of money, she might be able to qualify for welfare to cover her back rent
