Hi all,
My building has a gas shutdown bc it was discovered that there was a leak, and the risers need to be replaced. The project is thought to take about 2 years as they work in sections, and they are saying that it will take about 6-7 months where my unit will have no gas(this is the optimistic timeframe), and the building is providing hotplates.
I have a good relationship with my landlord....he sent me a message he is open for a reduction in rent. I pay 2k for my studio. They will have to open up 2 walls in my unit to access the pipes, and I will be inconvenienced having them in and out of apt during this project.
My question is what is a fair amount to ask for in terms of rent reduction?? $100 a month? $200? He knows full well the unit will be very hard to rent should I move out. Who the hell would move into an apt with no gas, two giant holes in the wall until the project is complete, with the best estimate being 6 months to complete.
I want to be fair. I love my building and landlord.
