Noise neighbors issue-Co-op /I am the apartment owner

Postby lizkin33 » Sun Jan 13, 2019 7:41 pm

Hello

I am dealing with the noise issue in the Co-op apartment, where I am the owner of the unit. there is a neighbor that also an owner of his unit, he let to live in his apartment, four months ago a female friend and her two high school/college aged children. Who seem to be total mental cases. The owner of the apartment doesn't live there since they move in. They have been are making so much noise, yelling and slamming doors, cursing, arguing like cats and dogs, and it can happen any time of the day, even past 11pm. I am unable to fall asleep, and sleep. I wake up during the night, because for those strange people time doesn't exists, they can yell at 2am or 4am. I have called security in my building , but they are useless. I have complained to the management office of our Co-op, wrote to the president of the Co-op board , they haven't responded yet. I have sent letters to the "strange" neighbors, nothing helps. I know that subletting is not allowed in our co-op, and i know that they living there while the owner pays for the apartment. What are my rights, and what i can do ? Housing court? THank you

You say you are the owner, but in your other thread, you said you were the tenant and had been served with court papers by the landlord. So which are you?

Have you made a tape recording of all this noise?

hi
thank you for replying

perhaps you didn't understand my situation, and i didn't explain clearly :?
I am the owner of the apartment,
i haven't been served any court letters, i was contemplating to go to housing Court, and it was a question at the end of my post, should i ? is it worth going to the court?

I haven't tape recorded the noise, thought about it, but wasn't sure how i can do it through the walls?

I understand what I read.

In this thread: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12650&p=56176

You say:

"I live in the rent stabilized apartment, received a non-payment petition from landlord's attorney, on Wednesday 03/14/18. It says on it that i have five days to answer.
Does this mean, five business days, or five calendar days?"

So if you have a landlord taking you to Housing Court, then one would surmise you're a tenant. How does that square with what you've said in this thread?
