CSDC Neighborhood Meeting on Costco
This Monday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.
St. Clare’s Hospital Auditorium
426 W. 52nd Street

WHAT PRICE COSTCO?

Will the planned Costco Megastore force Clinton/Hell's Kitchen to pay an unbearable price?

People in other parts of the city may benefit, but how many in Clinton will benefit -- and will
Clinton bear the burden for the others' benefit? Last year, from the east, the Shuberts and
Nederlanders tried to dump their Air Rights on this neighborhood. Now, Costco's potential impact
comes from the west.

Costco is planning a 70,000 Square Foot Superstore at 55th Street and Tenth Avenue -- with no
provisions for parking! Everyone wants lower food prices and healthy competition would benefit the
neighborhood. But will Costco be the nail in the coffin to local 9th Avenue merchants already
suffering from increased Times Square real estate costs?

The streets are already clogged with traffic, and Costco could bring over 20,000 additional cars
into the neighborhood per week, plus delivery trucks.

Join CSDC, our elected officials, a panel of experts in traffic, zoning and food distribution to
take a critical look at the proposed Costco Megastore, how it would impact this neighborhood and
available options for a community response.
