In the Neighborhood
MOBILE METROCARD VANS AND BUSSES -- will be coming to Chelsea and Clinton. A bus will be at West
23rd Street and Ninth Avenue on January 13 and January 27, 2000 from 1:00-2:00pm. A bus will be
on the corner of West 42nd Street and Ninth Avenue on January 6 from 2:30-3:30pm, and a van will
be on the same corner on January 20 from 2:30-3:30pm. One may apply for a reduced-fare Metrocard
on a MetroCard bus. Money can be added to a Metrocard at vans and busses. For additional
information, call (212) METROCARD.
CB4 COMMUNITY LEADERS -- The CB4 office is trying to maintain a current Public Information List
of community leaders. Faxes and e-mail addresses are most useful as they enable us to disburse
information at a more rapid pace. Please call the office at 736-4536 with your information.
RUNNING FOR CITY COUNCIL? -- The Baruch College School of Public Affairs and the NYC 2001
Political Education Leadership Coalition are hosting a series of four forums to assist candidates
in understanding and mastering the complex workings of City government. The cost is $60 for all
four or $20 for each. For information
SEXUAL HARASSMENT IN THE WORKPLACE -- Learn more about sexual harassment in the workplace. Women's

COLLEGE AID AWARENESS NETWORK -- provides financial aid information including information on how
to apply for aid, aid applications, answers to your financial aid questions and information on

FIRST-TIME HOME BUYERS SEMINAR -- is being offered free of charge by EAB. The two-day seminar
will be January 11-12, 2000 from 6:30-9:00pm. Participates will learn how to establish good
credit, buy a home with as little as 3% down, determine an monthly mortgage payment, and negotiate
the best price for your home. Reservations are required. Call (800) EAB-6527 for information.
FREE TRAINING FOR THOSE 55 AND OLDER -- is available from Project STEP. Training in computer and
office skills, and job placement assistance is being offered. The program is 20 weeks long and
meets from 9:00am to 4:15pm. Each participate works on his or her own computer and receives both

EL PRIMIR CONTACTO CON EL ARTE -- a program of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, is available to
introduce children ages six to twelve with accompanying adults to the Museum's collection through
discussions, sketching and hands-on activities. The program is in Spanish and runs on Saturdays
