actually, all the windows are covered by bars ... the trouble is that egress thing you mentioned. there's a front door and a back door (into the enclosed garden). does that count as more than one egress? i guess so. alas, we'll never get an air conditioner in the window! :^)

as for asking the LL about bars, i dunno about everybody else, but i prefer to collect as much info as possible before talking to the LL. it's not that i don't trust her ... she's just a little too tightly wound, so I try to avoid riling her. :)
