lease revision after I signed

Posted by Sophia on November 05, 2001 at 09:44:00:

In my otherwise all-electric apartment I have a gas stove.
For the past six years I have been charged a $10/month
cooking gas fee as was always stipulated on the lease.

This year when I was sent my renewal lease there was no
mention of the fee, which was great since I hardly ever use
my stove anyway. I signed the lease and mailed it back to the landlord.
However, when he mailed me back my copy, he had
handwritten in the gas fee (and increased it to $12!).
Am I obliged to pay this fee since the copy of the lease that I signed did not include it?

Thanks,
S.
