: Whether you like it or not there must be a compromise because the governor
: wants an "orderly transition" to market. How about this? 1) No protection for anyone making over $100,000 per year.
Fine as long as there is no decontrol for Landlord making over $100,000 either.
2) No protection for anyone paying more than $1,750 per month.
Same as above: no additional decontrol for landlords who own apartments over $1,750.00.
3) No more "ineritance" of apartments.
As it is the primary tenant is the only one that can pass on an apt. After that the game is over.
4) If a landlord wants to tear down a building he can, provided that the tenants are guaranteed a smiliar apartment at the same rent (nice way to end the housing shortage).
I vote for that, when do I move?
5) 100% decontrol with harsh penalites and landlords who harass their tenants.
This statement is an incorrectly phrased version of the proper rule that already exist.
This will protect over 90% of the tenants! What's wrong with this? Sheldon Silver's compromise with Pataki will protect 100% of the tenants.
