If you have a cheap rent controlled apartment, why cant you afford the rent yourself? Why not get a second JOB?

The LAST thing you want to do is stir up trouble, and having the landlord try and evict you.....

IF you have some very legitimate reason for wanting more roomates.....like you are disabled and need a live in care taker.......that would be a good defense..

BUT to try and make a profit on your cheap apartment......i would hope the landlord would try and evict you.

: If a rent-controlled tenant has a lease that is over 25 years old then can he legally have more than one roomate - ie the overcrowding laws of NY would dictate how many people can live inthe apartment and not just the roomate law? I think this may be true if the lease is old enough.
